Why It Matters
Why Preventative Maintenance Matters
Your standby generator sits idle most of the year — but when a storm knocks out power, it needs to start immediately and run reliably for as long as the outage lasts. Without routine service, oil degrades, batteries weaken, and small issues go unnoticed until they cause a failure at the worst possible time.
Annual maintenance keeps your system in peak operating condition, extends equipment life, and maintains manufacturer warranty compliance. Most manufacturers require documented annual service to honor warranty claims — skipping it can mean paying out of pocket for repairs that would otherwise be covered.
Our Home Generator Care program is designed for permanently installed residential standby generators. We recommend service at minimum once per year or every 100–200 run hours, whichever comes first. Units in high-dust, high-humidity, or extreme environments may benefit from more frequent servicing.
Priority scheduling during peak outage seasons
Reduced emergency repair costs
Extended equipment lifespan
Warranty compliance documentation
Peace of mind knowing your system is ready

After Your Service
Documentation & Service Records
After each service visit, you'll receive a complete record of the work performed — including a maintenance checklist, run hour documentation, test results, and any recommendations. This documentation supports manufacturer warranty compliance and gives you a clear service history for your records.
Home Generator Care does not include major component replacement, emergency service calls, fuel supply issues, or repairs due to misuse, storm damage, or rodent intrusion. If we identify any needed repairs during your service visit, we'll provide a separate quote with prioritized recommendations.
For an extra layer of protection, our Generator Fleet Monitoring program provides continuous remote monitoring with real-time fault alerts and proactive service response. Pairing annual hands-on maintenance with 24/7 remote monitoring gives you the most complete generator protection available.
